This is the former website of the Friends of the Fairmont Animal Shelter (FOFAS), which is now CLOSED.

FOFAS was a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue, foster and adoption of companion animals in Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, and the unincorporated areas of Hayward and San Leandro.

FOFAS members voted at their last meeting to dissolve the group after the closure of the Fairmont Animal Shelter.

The Fairmont Animal Shelter is CLOSED.
All Fairmont area animals now go to the:

East County Animal Shelter
4595 Gleason Drive
Dublin, CA 94568
Phone: (925) 803-7040
Hours: 11:30AM - 5:30PM
Closed only on holidays.

Eastbound HWY 580 traffic can be very heavy, especially in the afternoon, so allow lots of time to get there.

You should check in person for your lost pet. If they're at ECAS, they may be added to the TVAR Web site after their stray-hold is up (5 days). ... After they're already available to the public for adoption.

If they don't have your lost pet, you may want to check with other shelters that are closer, such as Hayward, Oakland or Fremont's Tri-City Shelter (they have a contract for San Leandro animals), in case they were turned in there. ... Leave as much information as you can, with a pet photo if possible, and check back often
