Name: "Bentley"
Sex: Male
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Size: Lrg

Bio:
Tall, dark and handsome, "Bentley" is a classy dog. Although he is large and strong, he comes out of his kennel calmly and will not pull you over as you take him for a walk.

Volunteer walkers find him interactive and very affectionate. He loves all-over body scratches and will wash your face with kisses if you let him. We think "Bentley" is definitely a bed and couch buddy, so be ready to share your space.

"Bentley appears to be house-trained. He will sit for treats, which he accepts gently. Approximately 65 lbs. ~1 1/2 years old.

Name: "Jennie"
Sex: Female (spayed)
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Size: Small

Bio:
If you love the idea of living with a Jack Russell, but aren't sure you can keep up with one - do come and meet mellow "Jennie." She is past the hyper puppy and adolescent stages, but will still be a great partner on your daily constitutional. "Jennie" is easy on leash and is an excellent walker who keeps a good pace. She is social and sweet and will tolerate handling and being picked up (although we suspect she still prefers to travel on her own legs).

"Jennie" is house-trained. She is already spayed, so can go right home to start a new life with you. "Jennie" would probably prefer a home with adults or a family with older children. Approximately 12-15 lbs. ~8 years old.

Contact Info:
This animal is currently in the Fairmont Shelter. If you are interested in "Jennie" contact the Fairmont Animal Shelter at (510) 667-7707 from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM and give them her ID #91341.

A playful fellow, sure of his welcome,"Mickey" is friendly and outgoing to one and all. He is house-trained and doesn't mind being picked up and carried. If you are looking for a small dog companion, you could hardly do better. Come and meet "Mickey." Approximately 10 lbs. ~3 years old.

Name: "Sherman"
Sex: Male
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Size: Lrg

Bio:
It's "Sherman," as in Sherman tank. That's because he is strong and can be a little pushy/pully until he has had a good walk. But "Sherman" is also a sweet guy that volunteers enjoy taking out on leash. He loves being petted and interacting with his human. Because he sometimes needs to be restrained from jumping up or mouthing, he is recommended for experienced guardians. "Sherman" is very house-trained and he will sit on command. While out on leash, he seems calm around other dogs. Approximately 50 lbs. ~1 1/2 years old.

Contact Info:
This animal is currently in the Fairmont Shelter. If you are interested in "Sherman" contact the Fairmont Animal Shelter at (510) 667-7707 from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM and give them his ID #89948.

Name: "Bruno"
Sex: Male
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Size: Lrg

Bio:
Where did "Bruno" get those expressive ears? and that exotic light brindle coat? Your guess as to his breed mix is as good as anyone's. "Bruno" is an affectionate boy; one volunteer notes he "soaks up attention like a sponge."

He is playfully interactive, appears to be house-trained, and knows the command for sit. This handsome fellow is good with people but, as he seems a little reactive to other dogs, he may not be a candidate for the dog park. Approximately 60 lbs. ~1 year old.

Contact Info:
This animal is currently in the Fairmont Shelter. If you are interested in "Bruno" contact the Fairmont Animal Shelter at (510) 667-7707 from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM and give them his ID #91528.

Name: "Bette"
Sex: Female
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Size: Lrg

Bio:
"Bette" is sometimes barky in her cage, but we think she is just trying to tell you she wants to come OUT! Once she is out of the kennel, she is quiet and happy. "Bette" is a youngster who still seems puppyish, in that she seems sort of new to the outside world and inexperienced walking on leash. She is a quick and willing learner, however, and is enjoying her excursions.

"Bette" is easy to manage and does not pull ahead. Very interested in scents, she spends much of her time with her nose to the ground like a professional tracker. She shows a friendly interest in other dogs she meets along the way.

"Bette" is a cute girl with a wonderful face. She is friendly and responsive, just waiting for some advanced training. Approximately 35 lbs. ~1 1/2 years old.

Name: Ellie & Sam
Sex: Both (spayed)
Breed: Rottweiler
Size: Lrg

Bio:
"Hi folks! Ellie (pink scarf) and Sam (green scarf) here. We made our way out west where we met in rescue after losing our families, and proved that even Rotties can find the perfect partner later in life. We're both in good health, mature and wise. Sam is a little hard of hearing, but I cover for him and let him know if there's something he missed.

"We would love to stay together. Please consider adopting both of us, and we can all watch sunsets together. I know it may take a special person to adopt us, but we're special, too!"

Ellie has been spayed, is ~8 years old and ~100 lbs. Sam has been neutered, is also ~8 years old and ~75 lbs. ... Is this a cute couple, or WHAT?!

Name: Buddy
Sex: Male (neutered)
Breed: Rottweiler
Size: Lrg

Bio:
This is Buddy, a happy go lucky kind of guy. He loves to hang out with his people, go for walks/jogs and car rides, too. We recommend a home with children 14 or over, and he's looking for a new home where he can join in and be part of the family. We don't know yet how he is with cats or other small animals.

He's a very handsome guy, as you can see. He's only 4 years old. He's neutered and microchipped. Check him out and see if he's what you need to finish off your family's holiday portrait.

Name: "Moppet"
Sex: Female (spayed)
Breed: Cockapoo mix
Size: Small

Bio:
Sugar and Spice. "Moppet" is shy and tentative at first, but once she feels comfortable, she loves giving and receiving attention and affection. She is a very playful and energetic gal who loves toys and will not hesitate to get into a tug-o-war match with another dog - even one 3 times her size. She has a very mischievous side, but can make your heart melt when she looks at you with innocent brown eyes. She likes cats but seems to consider them toys, so she needs to be reminded otherwise. She's fine with other dogs, but would prefer to be the center of attention, although she enjoys their companionship.

"Moppet" is still a puppy at heart, so she would be better with adults or older children. She weighs in at approximately 20 lbs and is around 1 - 1.5 years old.

Name: "Rocky"
Sex: Male (neutered)
Breed: Chihuahua/Spaniel mix
Size: Small

Bio:
"Rocky" is a quiet and unassuming little gentleman who's looking for a new home and person to call his own. He's a handsome little guy with a kind, Spaniel-looking face. (With his coat color and "feathers," he reminds me of a miniature Golden Retriever, too. If his tail hadn't been docked, the picture would be more complete.)

He came to the shelter as a stray and impressed many volunteers with his friendly and gentle demeanor. He's quiet about asking for attention, but he's happy to join you when invited. He gets along well with his two small-dog housemates and seems to be friendly toward cats as well.

"Rocky" would enjoy going for walks with you, but he enjoys a nice warm lap and watching TV, too. He travels well in the car, and he's small enough that he's easy to take along with you.

"Rocky" doesn't guard his food or toys. In fact, I guard his dish from the other dogs in the house, or they'd steal it before he had a chance to eat. Since he's a small dog, I'd like to find him a home with adults, and maybe, older children.

"Rocky" is housebroken. He's neutered, current on all his vaccinations and has recently had his teeth cleaned. He's only 9 pounds and is estimated to be ~10 years old. (Small dogs typically live longer than large dogs.)

Name: "Robin"
Sex: Female (spayed)
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
Size: Med

Bio:
Despite its reputation, the extraordinarily muscled American Pit Bull Terrier can be a wonderful family companion. Robin is a great example of a well bred, socialized APBT. She is a petite, well socialized dog that thoroughly enjoys the company of people and animals alike. She is currently fostered with another female Pitbull mix and together they share food, toys, and on occasion they even sleep together.

Robin was quite thin when she came into foster but has successfully gained about 5 lbs. though she could still use another 2-3 lbs. for good measure. She's housebroken using a dog door. Robin does not tolerate crating well and will bark to let you know of her displeasure. She's an alarm barker and will let you know when anyone or anything unknown is near your home.

Robin warms to women more quickly than she does men. She enjoys romping in the yard with dogs and toys and daily walks around the neighborhood. She can be high energy, but with regular exercise, she is well mannered around the home. Robin is very eager to please and loves her treats, so she should respond well to positive reinforcement training. Robin has a good start on her basic obedience already knowing commands such as sit and lay down. Robin currently weighs 45lbs.

Name: "Toby"
Sex: Male (neutered)
Breed: Terrier mix
Size: Small

Bio:
"Toby" is still a pup finding his place in the world. We call him the "Rhinestone Cowboy" for the fancy collar he sports. A typical terrier, "Toby" is active and busy, ready to go for a walk and explore. Initially, he may bark at other dogs he meets, but it looks like he just wants to play. He likes being cuddled and will beg to be picked up.

"Toby "is a smart little so-and-so who will probably shine in puppy school. Approximately 10-12 lbs. ~6 months-1 year old.

Name: Jade
Sex: Female (spayed)
Breed: Pit Bull/Lab Mix
Size: Med

Bio:
Jade is a sweet youngster who was surrendered by her owner through no fault of her own. Jade's original owner moved from TX to CA with his 4 dogs and found out it's much more expensive to live in the Bay Area than he had planned. He surrendered Jade to the Fairmont Shelter, but he did leave a full personality profile on her which is always greatly appreciated.

We are listing Jade as a Pit Bull/Lab Mix even though the only things "Pittie" about her are her brindle coat color and slightly almond shaped eyes. Jade's outercoat is short, straight and very dense, her undercoat is soft and weather resistant. Her tail is otterlike, thick at the base, tapering gradually to the tip. Her ears, face, and body structure are that of a Labrador Retriever.

Jade is a very sweet, gentle, and tolerant dog who responds well to other dogs. She would be great in a home with children and/or other dogs. She shows curiosity toward cats but no aggression. She loves outdoor activities and will be easy to train. Jade rides well in the car and walks easily on leash. She is crate trained and housebroken using a dog door. Jade is very willing to please and should do quite well with obedience training. Jade is 55 lbs. and approximately 1 year old.
